Pol Belardi (* 1989 in Esch / Alzette ) is a Luxembourgish jazz and fusion musician ( e-bass , composition ).

Live and act

Belardi, who tried the musical instruments of his parents' house as a small child, received extensive musical training at the conservatory in his place of birth from the age of seven (including drums , piano, double bass , harmony and composition); he also played in the local harmony orchestra and the brass band.

Between 2006 and 2008 Belardi studied jazz at the Conservatoire de Luxembourg ; he also began to be interested in rock as well as electronic and experimental music. He then continued his musical training as jazz at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (with Eric Legnini and Michel Hatzigeorgiou ), in order to complete his Bachelor in 2011. By 2014 he completed his master's degree as a bass guitarist at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (with Theo de Jong and David de Marez Oyens) with the grade cum laude .

During his studies he already ran his jazz band Pol Belardi's Force (which released a first album in 2012, still as 4S ), for which he also composed. In addition, he led the collective Urban Voyage in Amsterdam , which released its first album in 2016, and the electro-groove trio DillenDub . He also accompanied Pascal Schumacher , Charlotte Haesen, Riaz Khabirpour and in the band MetroMara Mara Minjoli , with whom he can also be heard on CDs. He also appeared in the neo-fusion band Little Known Facts . He gave concerts not only in Central Europe and France, but also in Portugal, Italy, Denmark, Greece, North America, China and Japan.

As a composer he wrote works in different genres and for different line-ups from trio to big band .

Prizes and awards

In 2012, Belardi was awarded the music prize in the category of the Superior Prize by the Rotary Club Esch-sur-Alzette. In the same year, The Unrevealed Society won the XL-Jazz Competition in Brussels and the Young Jazz Talent Gent with his compositions . He won the Prinses Christina Jazz Concours in Amsterdam with the trios of pianist Floris Kappeyne and appeared on the TV show Vrije Geluiden . Also in 2012 his composition Spring won the competition of the Orchester National de Jazz Luxembourg . In 2013 he represented Luxembourg in the European project Criss Cross Europe . In 2014 his urban travel project won the competition The Records of the Dutch foundation Keep an Eye . In the same year he was awarded the Luxembourg Foundation for the Promotion of Young Artists.
