The Marble Hills ( English for Marble Mountains are) a range of hills in the southern part of the Ellsworth Mountains in West Antarctica .
The ice-free chain is part of the Heritage Range mountain range and lies on the western side of the Horseshoe Valley . In the northwest lie the Liberty Hills , in the southeast it is connected to the Independence Hills via the Morris Cliff . The highest peaks of the chain are the Beitzel Peak ( 2170 m ) and the Minaret Peak ( 1613 m ) at the northwestern end and Mount Fordell ( 1670 m ) in the southwest.
The marble ridge got its name from a research expedition from the University of Minnesota , which explored the Ellsworth Mountains from 1962 to 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names adopted this proposal as its official name in 1964.
