Cosmin Andrei Vâtcă (born May 12, 1982 in Turda , Cluj County ) is a Romanian football player . The goalkeeper has been playing in Liga 1 at CFR Cluj since summer 2019 .

Career

Vâtcă started his professional career at FC Bihor Oradea in 2001 and was his first season substitute goalkeeper in Divizia B , but came on 11 missions. In 2003 he rose to Divizia A with Oradea and made his debut in the Romanian first division on May 2, 2004 against Steaua Bucharest . The game ended 3-0 for Steaua. After this season Oradea rose again and Vâtcă became number one. In January 2006 he moved to Oțelul Galați for 15,000 euros and came back to Divizia A. He played there for two seasons and made 48 appearances. In 2007 Vâtcă moved to Steaua Bucharest, where he came up only for the second team. In January 2009 he was loaned to Gaz Metan Mediaș until the end of the season, before Gaz Metan committed him.

After Vâtcă came in the 2010/11 season as number two behind Răzvan Pleşca only two missions, he left Gaz Metan in the winter break and moved to FK Xəzər Lənkəran in Azerbaijan. He returned in summer 2011. Half a year later he joined the league rivals Rapid Bucharest . In the summer of 2012 he moved to newly promoted FC Viitorul Constanța . After only three appearances in the first half of the 2013/14 season , he left Viitorul in early 2014 and returned to Gaz Metan. There he could not get past Pleşca again and mostly sat on the bench. In the summer of 2014 he joined CFR Cluj . There he rarely comes into play as a substitute goalkeeper. When he won the Cup in 2016 , he was on the bench. At the beginning of the 2017/18 season he was initially number one in goal. After the commitment of Giedrius Arlauskis , he had to move back into the second line. At the end of the season he won the Romanian championship with his team.
