Marc Bernhard (born February 5, 1972 in Reutlingen ) is a German politician ( AfD ) and lawyer . He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2017 and state group spokesman for the AfD state group in Baden-Württemberg since 2018 .

Life and work

After studying law at the University of Augsburg , Bernhard was admitted to the bar. He also earned an MBA in London through distance learning . From 2011 to 2017, Bernhard was the managing director of INIT Innovative IT Applications in Transport-, Verkehrs- und Leitsystemen GmbH, a subsidiary of init innovation in traffic systems SE .

Marc Bernhard is divorced and has two children.

Political party

After a short activity with the Jusos , Bernhard joined the Junge Union and the CDU in 1991 . At the Junge Union he was involved in the district board of the Alb-Donau district , in the state board of Baden-Württemberg and in the JU federal board as a spokesman for integration policy. Bernhard was also chairman of the CDU local branch in Dornstadt for 13 years and deputy CDU district chairman for 14 years.

In 2013 Bernhard left the CDU and joined the newly founded AfD. 2014-2019 he was deputy spokesman and since 2019 he has been spokesman for the AfD district association in Karlsruhe . Since 2017 he has been a member of the state board of AfD Baden-Württemberg.

MP

Bernhard was a member of the Dornstadt municipal council from 1999 to 2012 . From 2014 to 2019 he was a member of the Karlsruhe municipal council.

In the 2017 federal election , Bernhard was elected to the German Bundestag via the Baden-Württemberg state list . Since 2018 he has been the spokesman for the AfD regional group in Baden-Württemberg.

In the Bundestag, Bernhard is a full member of the Committee on Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety , as well as the Committee on Construction, Housing, Urban Development and Local Authorities. In addition, he is a deputy member of the Labor and Social Affairs Committee , the Economic and Energy Committee , and the Transport and Digital Infrastructure Committee .

Political positions

Bernhard turned against a possible exclusion from the party of Björn Höcke . He described the 2015 education plan in Baden-Württemberg as the “red-green Siff” and called for its abolition.
