Marc Stenger

Marc Camille Michel Stenger (born August 27, 1946 in Phalsbourg ) is a French clergyman and bishop of Troyes in Champagne .

Life

Stenger was born in 1946 as the son of the commercial clerk Jules Stenger and the housewife Camille Stenger. After graduating from high school, he studied literature and theology in Paris and Rome. He was ordained a priest on June 28, 1975 .

From 1975 to 1981 he was a chaplain in a parish in Metz. In 1981 he became a member of the teaching staff of the French seminary in Rome and in 1984 moved to the seminary of Metz, where he taught until 1990. As episcopal vicar , he was responsible for youth work from 1984-1998. In 1990 he became a pastor in Metz, and from 1992 he headed the seminary there.

He has been Bishop of Troyes since September 5, 1999.

Stenger is President of Pax Christi in France. He is also Bishop for Malteser International and in the French Bishops' Conference for Latin America.
