Marcel Escure

Marcel Escure (born October 6, 1963 in Bordeaux ) is a French diplomat .

Life

Marcel Escure attended the universities of Bordeaux and completed his studies there with a Maîtrise de Lettres Classiques . In 1988 he finished his training at the École nationale d'administration .

In the same year Escure became secretary of the French embassy in Lima , Peru . In 1991 he moved to the French Foreign Ministry in Paris , where he worked in the field of North-South economic cooperation, namely the African Development Bank and the CFA Franc Zone . From 1994 to 1996 he was counselor in Phnom Penh in Cambodia and from 1997 to 1998 counselor in Beirut in Lebanon . He then worked again at the Foreign Ministry in Paris, now as a sub-director in the Directorate for Strategic Affairs. Escure became Counselor in Dakar in Senegal in 2002 . In 2003 he was one of the founders of the Center Europe-Afrique pour la prévention des conflits , a European-African center for conflict prevention. From 2005 to 2007 he worked as counselor in Abidjan , Ivory Coast .

Subsequently, he was initially deputy chief of protocol until in 2008 he became head of department for Francophone Affairs in the General Directorate for Political Affairs at the Foreign Ministry in Paris. In this role he was responsible, among other things, for summits and activities of the organization of the Francophonie in Africa, as well as for the transition process after the coup by the Supreme Council for the Restoration of Democracy in Niger .

In 2011, Manuel Escure became the French ambassador to Tanzania . In this position he succeeded Jacques Champagne de Labriolle . Escure was also involved in think tanks in France and in meetings of the French-speaking world in Royaumont during this time . In 2014 Malika Berak succeeded him as ambassador to Tanzania. Escure was then involved in diplomatic missions in Niger and Lagos in Nigeria . In 2015 he succeeded Antoine Anfré as the French ambassador to Niger . Marcel Escure has been married since 1994 and has three children.
