Marcel Krügel

Marcel-René Krügel (born January 31, 1893 in Noiraigue ; † April 3, 1973 in Travers ) was a Swiss entrepreneur and politician ( LPS ). He was Swiss governor of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .

biography

Marcel Krügel, son of the entrepreneur Ferdinand Krügel and Mina Schopfer, studied after attending the trade school in Neuchâtel economics at the University of Neuchatel . In 1944 he joined the family business, a factory for fine stones for the production of watches .

Krügel was President of the Association suisse des fabricants de pierres d'horlogerie et scientifiques (ASFPH) and Vice-President of the Union suisse des branches annexes de l'horlogerie (UBAH) , an association of component manufacturers in the Swiss watch industry. He was a member of the Assembly of Delegates and the Central Board of the Chambre suisse de l'Horlogie / Swiss Chamber of Clocks based in La Chaux-de-Fonds . He was also the editor of the watch industry's specialist magazine La Suisse horlogère . Krügel was Colonel of Infantry Regiment 8 from 1939 to 1945 and Commander of Border Brigade 2 of the Swiss Army from 1944 to 1950 .

From 1953 to 1981 Krügel was the governor of the Swiss Lieutenancy of the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .

politics

From 1926 to 1933 and from 1944 to 1968 Krügel served as a councilor in his home town of Travers. From 1933 to 1940 he also represented the canton of Neuchâtel in the National Council , the large chamber of the Swiss Federal Assembly .
