Marcel Odenbach

Marcel Odenbach (born July 7, 1953 in Cologne ) is a German video artist .

life and work

From 1974 to 1979 he studied architecture , art history and semiotics at the Technical University of Aachen . Since 1976 he has been working with video in performances, installations and tapes. In 1984 he was represented at the group exhibition Von hier aus - Two months of new German art in Düsseldorf . Since 1992 he has held professorships at the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung, Karlsruhe , and the Kunsthochschule für Medien Cologne , where he held the office of Vice Rector .

Odenbach lives and works in Cologne. Marcel Odenbach has held a full professorship for film and video at the Düsseldorf Art Academy since the 2010 summer semester . In the same year he was elected to the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts .

Marcel Odenbach, along with Ulrike Rosenbach and Klaus vom Bruch, is one of the three internationally recognized German video artists. Together they formed the ATV producer group in the 1970s .
