Marcel Rozgonyi (born January 28, 1976 in Hoyerswerda ) is a former German football player .

Career as a player

Rozgonyi played for Energie Cottbus in his youth . From 1995 to 2000 he played for FC Lausitz Hoyerswerda . For the 2000/01 season he moved to 1. FC Magdeburg , with whom he reached the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup . The local opponent FC Schalke 04 then signed him. In 2003 he moved to the league competitor Energie Cottbus. In 2005 Rozgonyi went to 1. FC Saarbrücken , with whom he played in the 2nd Bundesliga for three years and looked after the U19s. After the relegation of 1. FC Saarbrücken from the 2. Bundesliga, he moved to FC Sachsen Leipzig . In 2008 he returned to 1. FC Saarbrücken, where he ended his career in 2009 due to an injury. After working for half a year at 1. FC Saarbrücken in the youth team, he moved to 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig in 2011 to work in the position of sporting director at the official level.

Rozgonyi won the German Cup with FC Schalke 04 in 2002 and took part in the Champions League.

Trainer and functionary

In 2011 Rozgonyi was Sports Director at 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig . In March 2018, Rozgonyi became assistant coach of the U19s of the Chinese first division team Guangzhou Evergrande under Stefan Böger . In November 2019, SpVgg Bayreuth from the Regionalliga Bayern presented Rozgonyi as the new sporting and technical director.

Others

Rozgonyi is in a relationship with handball player Ingrida Radzevičiūtė . The couple have a daughter together. From his first marriage, Rozgonyi brought his son Len-Louis into the relationship.

In 2018 Rozgonyi worked for the Office for Migration and Immigration Law of the Northern Saxony district . In addition, he was elected mayor of the Leipzig district of Mölkau , but did not take up the office.
