Marcin Żewłakow (born April 22, 1976 in Warsaw , Poland ) is a former Polish football player . He played primarily as a center forward .
Career
society
Żewłakow played in his youth for lower class clubs in Warsaw , before he moved to the youth of the first division Polonia Warsaw . There he also made the leap into the first team. After five years, he moved to KSK Beveren in Belgium in the summer of 1998 and, after a move in 1999, played for Excelsior Mouscron for six years . In 2005 he moved to FC Metz , but returned to Excelsior Mouscron on loan in early 2006. After half a year he switched to KAA Gent , where he was awarded to FCV Dender EH again after half a year . In the summer of 2008 Żewłakow moved to Cyprus to APOEL Nicosia , where he celebrated his greatest successes (championship, Supercup) and took part in the UEFA Champions League in the 2009/10 season . There he made three appearances in the group stage and scored a goal on matchday six in the away game against Chelsea FC London (2-2). APOEL was nevertheless eliminated as bottom of the table. In summer 2010 he moved to GKS Bełchatów in Ekstraklasa . For GKS he played a total of 51 games in the Ekstraklasa and scored 12 goals. In early June 2012 Marcin Żewłakow signed a one-year contract with the Polish first division club Korona Kielce . After only 13 appearances and one goal scored, however, he terminated his contract early at the end of February 2013. After the 2012/13 season, he ended his active football career.
National team
Between 2000 and 2004 he played a total of 25 games for Poland and scored 5 goals in these. Marcin Żewłakow was also in Poland's World Cup squad (3 games / 1 goal) for the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea .
Private
His twin brother Michał was also a professional footballer and is Poland's record international player with 102 international matches.
