Marcin Mielczewski
Marcin Mielczewski (* around 1600 ; † September 1651 in Warsaw ) was a Polish composer .
Life
Mielczewski, along with his teachers Franciszek Lilius and Bartłomiej Pękiel , was one of the most important Polish composers of the 17th century.
From 1638 to 1644 he worked as a composer and musician in the Royal Chapel of Warsaw, which was then under the direction of Marco Scacchi . In 1645 he became Kapellmeister at the court of the Prince-Bishop of Breslau and Płock, Karl Ferdinand Wasa, a brother of the King.
His most famous works are composed in the Italian “ concertato style ” of the early 17th century. The earliest use of a mazurka in court music can be found in one of his instrumental canzones .
