Marco Haller (born June 30, 1984 in Oettingen ) is a German soccer player .

Career

In his youth, Haller came to FC Augsburg from TSV Wemding via TSV Nördlingen and 1. FC Nürnberg . There he moved from the U-19s to the regional league team in 2003, for which he made 14 appearances in his first senior year under coach Armin Veh . During his time in Augsburg, he was also appointed to the DFB junior team and played three times for the German U-20 national team .

After the season Haller joined the league competitor VfR Aalen in 2004 . After three years of fluctuating performance, he finally prevailed in midfield in the 2007/08 season and became a regular player. This season, VfR also qualified for the newly introduced 3rd professional league . In the 2008/09 season, however, the club could not hold the league; after the descent, Haller left the Aalen. He stayed in the 3rd division and signed a contract with SSV Jahn Regensburg . For two years he played under Markus Weinzierl as a regular for the Upper Palatinate, won the Bavarian State Cup twice and returned in 2011 to VfR Aalen, which has meanwhile been promoted and trained by Ralph Hasenhüttl . In the 2011/12 season, the midfielder, who is used on both the right and left sides, was part of the core of the team that reached second place in the league and was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. In the 2012/2013 season he made 22 appearances at VfR Aalen; the climber reached ninth place in the table with 46 points.

In the summer of 2013 Haller left VfR Aalen and moved to the Würzburger Kickers in the Regionalliga Bayern , which this season announced the project 3x3 , i.e. promotion to the 3rd division within three years and won the Bavarian State Cup at the end of the season. With the Würzburg team, he was promoted to the 3rd division under coach Bernd Hollerbach in 2015 and to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2016. In the first round of the DFB Cup 2015/16 he scored a goal in the game against Werder Bremen during regular time, which was wrongly disallowed because of an alleged offside position. Würzburg then retired after extra time with 0: 2 from the cup competition. Despite the possibility of staying in the 2nd division, Haller moved from the Würzburger Kickers to the regional league for 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 in the 2016/17 season and won the Bavarian State Cup with the team. The contract option for another year with 1. FC Schweinfurt did not move Haller. Instead, he announced that he would concentrate on his profession as an industrial mechanic in the future.

Haller joined the 6th league newcomer Sportfreunde Dorfmerkingen for the 2017/18 season . With the team he became champion of the Württemberg Association League in 2018/19 and rose to the top division. He then left Dorfmerkingen and returned to his former youth club TSV Nördlingen .
