Marco Kalantari

Marco Kalantari (born June 20, 1974 in Vienna ) is an Austrian advertising and feature film director .

Life

Marco Kalantari began studying directing and production at the Vienna Film Academy in 1994 , which he completed in 2002 with a Mag. Art. completed. Between 1995 and 1997 he gained experience in film productions as an equipment and prop assistant . In 1997 he staged his first commercial - then until 2001 he was an assistant director for commercial productions.

In 2003 he received his first awards for the Doctors Without Borders commercial at the Cannes Film Festival and in Palermo .

Between 2000 and 2003 Kalantari directed his first feature film: a science fiction production called Ainoa , unusual for the Austrian film landscape , which was presented at several film festivals, including the Science Fiction Festival in London, and received an award in Kiev . The film started on October 19, 2006 in several Austrian cinemas.

In the following years, Kalantari started his international career as an advertising director, starting in India, where he developed into a sought-after filmmaker in the advertising industry. He lived in Reykjavík between 2005 and 2006 , in Shanghai between 2006 and 2009 , and then in Beijing for a year . He speaks fluent Mandarin and works as a director throughout the East Asian region. In 2010 he moved to Tokyo .

In 2015 Kalantari's short film The Shaman premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York . The production has been presented at numerous festivals. As a result, the artist agency United Talent Agency in Los Angeles signed Kalantari.
