Marco Schöller

Marco Schöller (* 1968 in Regensburg ) is a German scholar of Islam .

Life

From 1988 to 1997, Schöller studied Islamic Studies, Philosophy and Political Science at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg . He spent semesters abroad at the University of Aleppo in Syria and the University of St. Andrews in Scotland . He also did research in Italy. In 1997 he was at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg Dr. phil. PhD. He then received a scholarship from the German Research Foundation and was a research assistant or senior assistant at the Oriental Seminary at the University of Cologne . In 2004 he completed his habilitation in Islamic studies and became a private lecturer. In 2008 he became professor for Islamic history at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. He is a member of the German-Yemeni Society , the German Oriental Society and the Center for Inter- and Transcultural Studies at Cologne University.
