Marcos García Fernández (born December 4, 1986 in San Martín de Valdeiglesias , Autonomous Community of Madrid ) is a Spanish road cyclist.

Athletic career

Before starting his career as an elite racing driver, Marcos García Fernández won various cycling races in his home country. From mid-2008 he drove for the Xacobeo Galicia team , initially as a stagiaire . In 2012 he contested his first big tour with the Giro d'Italia and finished 47th in the overall ranking. By 2013 he took part in the Vuelta a España three times and was able to place in the top 100 each time, in 2012 he was 27th overall.

In 2017 García Fernández, who started for the Japanese team Kinan Cycling from 2016 , won a stage of the Tour of Japan and the overall ranking of the Tour de Hokkaidō . In 2018 he became the overall winner of the Tour of Japan .
