Marcos Shyderrick Knight (born September 24, 1989 ) is an American basketball player. He is under contract with AS Monaco .

career

Knight comes from the US state of Georgia , he played for three different university teams between 2009 and 2013: First one season each at Middle Georgia College and at Chipola College (both for the National Junior College Athletic Association, the association of the two-year “Community and Junior Colleges ", Due), from 2011 for the team at Middle Tennessee State University ( NCAA ).

After the end of his college career in the spring of 2013, Knight played for the NBA clubs Charlotte Bobcats and Brooklyn Nets , but he did not make the leap into the North American professional league. In December 2013 he was signed by FC Baunach from the German 2nd Bundesliga ProB  and, as the best scorer in his team (17.7 points per game), he was involved in the team moving into the ProB final and thus making it to the ProA . He extended his contract in Baunach and also shone in the second division as Baunach's best offensive player (15.3 points per game).

In the 2015/16 season, Knight first played at USC Heidelberg (ProA), in January 2016 they split up after he had expressed his wish to move to league competitor Science City Jena . The USC had initially refused, Knight then stayed away from training. The Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung wrote about it: “The US-American simply stopped his service for the second division basketball team because he was not allowed to switch to a league competitor. In the defeat against Rasta Vechta on Wednesday, the Heidelberg combo guard was missing - surprisingly for the observers - in the squad. Knight had stayed unexcused from training the days before. Obviously that was his chosen means of forcing a transfer to league rivals Jena. ”Ultimately, a termination agreement was agreed and shortly afterwards Knight signed in Jena. He won the championship title in the 2. Bundesliga ProA with the Thuringians and rose to the basketball Bundesliga . With an average of 15.0 points, Knight was Jena's best scorer in the promotion season. In his first BBL season he was nominated for the All-Star Game 2017. During the 2016/2017 season he moved to the Spanish first division club Basket Saragossa 2002 , for which he played six games in the ACB league .

In July 2017, Knight was signed by the Turkish second division club Afyonkarahisar Belediyespor, with whom he competed in the country's first division from the 2018/19 season. In eleven appearances in the Turkish league until the end of December 2018, Knight averaged 15.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.1 basket assists per match. In January 2019 he was signed by the Bundesliga club MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg . He led the team in the 2018/19 season with 18.8 points per game as the best scorer. In the 2019/20 season, Knight was named the best player in the final Bundesliga tournament, where he reached the final of the German championship with Ludwigsburg, but missed the two championship games due to injury. Without him, Ludwigsburg lost both games against Berlin. Knight came to a total of 16.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per encounter during the game year.

His performances shown in Ludwigsburg earned Knight a contract in the French first division, he moved to AS Monaco during the summer break of 2020 .
