Marcus CL Kline

Marcus Charles Lawrence Kline (born March 26, 1855 in Emmaus , Pennsylvania , †  March 10, 1911 in Allentown , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1903 and 1907 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Marcus Kline attended the public schools in his home country. In 1874 he graduated from Muhlenberg College in Allentown. After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1876, he began to work in Allentown in this profession. A year later he became the city's legal representative. Between 1887 and 1890 he was a district attorney in Lehigh County there . At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . From 1895 to 1899 he was its chairman in Lehigh County. Between 1899 and 1906 he was President of the Lehigh Valley Trust Co.

In the congressional elections of 1902 , Kline was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 13th  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Republican George Robert Patterson on March 4, 1903 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1907 . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Kline practiced law again. He also got into the banking industry. From 1907 to 1911 he headed the Allentown Trust Co. He died on March 10, 1911 in Allentown.
