Marcus Ellermann

Marcus Ellermann (* 1967 in Westphalia) is a Brigadier General of the German Air Force and has been Head of Department II (Military Policy) at the German Mission to NATO in Brussels , Belgium, since October 1, 2017 .

Military career

Ellermann completed his training as an officer in the air defense missile troops of the Air Force. From 1988 to 1992 he completed a degree in business administration at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg . This was followed by uses in the anti-aircraft missile force. From 1999 to 2001 Ellermann completed the general staff course at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg, followed by the French general staff course at the Collège interarmées de Défense (CID) in Paris . From 2011 to 2014 Ellermann, with the rank of colonel , led the anti-aircraft missile squadron 1 in Husum as a commodore .

During this time, from January to July 2013, Ellermann was also deployed abroad as the contingent leader of the German Active Fence contingent in Kahramanmaras , Turkey . Subsequently, from 2014 to 2015 he was employed as head of division in the human resources department and from 2015 to 2016 as deputy commissioner for the preparation of the white paper at the Federal Ministry of Defense in Berlin . From 2016 to 2017 Ellermann completed a graduate school at the Royal College of Defense Studies in London . Since October 1, 2017, Ellermann has been the successor of Brigadier General Rainer Heinrich Meyer zum Felde, Head of Department II (Military Policy) at the German Mission to NATO in Brussels, Belgium. At the same time he was promoted to brigadier general.
