Marcus Munatius Sulla Cerialis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marcus Munatius Sulla Cerialis (also Cerealis ; † 219) was a Roman politician and senator of the 3rd century AD.

Cerialis was Italian . Before his consulate he was a legate of the province of Noricum . Since the inscription that testifies to his Norican governorship mentions provincial residents who did not have full citizenship, Cerialis could have taken office before the Constitutio Antoniniana (212).

Under Emperor Caracalla , in 215, Cerialis became ordinary consul with Quintus Maecius Laetus and legate of the province of Cappadocia in 217/218 ; Cerialis was killed here by Emperor Elagabal in 219 while he was still in office . His son was Marcus Munatius Sulla Urbanus , consul 234.
