Marcus Uhlig

Marcus Uhlig (born February 22, 1971 in Kamp-Lintfort ) is a German football official.

Career

Marcus Uhlig was active as a football player for TuS Rheinberg 08 , SV Millingen and in the state league for MSV Moers . As a teenager he was a fan of Rot-Weiss Essen. A change to Rot-Weiss was under discussion, but was rejected by Uhlig's parents. After 1990 on Amplonius high school in Rheinberg the High School had insisted moved Uhlig to Bielefeld to at the local university , a law school record. Together with the journalist Jens Kirschnek, Uhlig founded the Medienburo 24/7 at the beginning of 2000. A year later, Uhlig founded the regional soccer magazine football.owl for the East Westphalia-Lippe region . From 2003 the media bureau worked as a service provider for Arminia Bielefeld and initially created the stadium newspaper Halbvier and later the club's website . The office was also responsible for an image campaign with which Arminia was able to increase its membership significantly. For the 100th anniversary of the association, Uhlig wrote the book 100 Years of Passion together with his partners Jens Kirschnek, Olaf Bentkamper, Volker Backes and Julien Lecoeuer .

Uhlig was later appointed the association's press spokesman and took over the position of team manager in the summer of 2011 at the suggestion of the then managing director Ralf Schnitzmeier. Schnitzmeier was dismissed in September 2011 and Uhlig initially took over the post of managing director on an interim basis, which he later took over entirely. In July 2015, Uhlig ended his position as managing director at his own request. According to his own statement, he carried out what felt like 45 months of crisis management during the 47 months of his term of office, which also led to health problems up to and including exhaustion syndrome . His successor was Gerrit Meinke . Subsequently, on October 1, 2015, Uhlig took over the Bielefeld sports shop Strafraum , which had to file for bankruptcy after just seven months . He then took on temporary consulting mandates on a voluntary basis for the regional league team Wuppertaler SV , VfR Wellensiek and for the integration project Bielefeld United. Since November 1, 2017, he has been back full-time in football as a member of the board of the regional league club Rot-Weiss Essen.

Marcus Uhlig is married and has one son. His father Guntram Uhlig is an entrepreneur and was Vice President of FC St. Pauli from 2003 to 2005 . In summer 2017 he was one of the co-founders of the Sentana Circle of Friends , which takes care of animal welfare.
