Marcus Werner (Lawyer)

Marcus Werner (born March 24, 1965 in Bonn ) is a German lawyer and computer scientist . He works as a lawyer in Cologne in IT , data protection and internet law as well as corporate law and (since 2015) is a board member of the German Lawyers' Association .

Werner studied law , mathematics and computer science at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn , the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen and the FernUniversität in Hagen ; the doctorate to Dr. jur. followed in 1995 with Herbert Fiedler in Bonn. From 1990 to 1995 he worked as a senior consultant at Kienbaum Unternehmensberatung , and has been a lawyer since 1995. At the end of the 1990s, Werner and his senior partner Manfred Brüning got involved in compensating Nazi forced laborers and, together with others, developed a foundation-based compensation concept including a draft law, which was not taken up.

Werner became known through several applications against the special electronic attorney's mailbox (beA) , which led to the prohibition by way of the interim order to unlock mailboxes for attorneys who had not given their consent.

Werner has been an honorary judge at the Cologne Bar since 2012 . Werner has been Deputy Chairman of the Cologne Lawyers' Association since 2017; previously was its treasurer.
