Marek Motyka

Marek Motyka (born April 17, 1958 in Żywiec ) is a former Polish football player and current coach .

Career as a footballer

Marek Motyka began his professional career at Hutnik Kraków before moving to Wisła Kraków in early 1978 . With the club he was Polish champion in 1978 and Polish cup finalist in 1979 and 1984. In 1990 he moved to the Norwegian club Brann Bergen , whereupon he returned to Poland and played for clubs such as Hetman Zamość and Cracovia Krakow . All in all, Motyka played 224 games and 6 goals in the Polish 1st division. He also played 6 international matches for the Polish national team .

Career as a coach

Motyka began his coaching career at Szczakowianka Jaworzno , where he worked from May 2002 to May 2003. Szczakowianka even achieved promotion to the Ekstraklasa with him. After his departure, he worked for Tłoki Gorzyce before those in charge of Polonia Warsaw asked him for help to keep the club from being degraded. After he was replaced by Dariusz Kubicki in June 2005 , he started working for Górnik Zabrze on November 4th and saved the club from relegation to the second division. Between January 2006 and April 2006 he was replaced by Ryszard Komornicki before he was released on December 12, 2006. However, he returned to Gornik Zabrze in March 2007. On July 9, 2008 he was introduced as the new coach at the two-time Polish champions Polonia Bytom . As a result of the 0-3 home game defeat of Polonia Bytom against Ruch Chorzów , Motyka was on leave on March 15, 2009 from his coaching post. Motyka has been the coach of Korona Kielce since May 18, 2009 . After a few lower-class coaching posts, Motyka was most recently coach of the Polish second division club Rozwój Katowice in 2015 , but has been without a club since his dismissal.
