Marek Stebnicki (born November 11, 1965 in Dynów ) is a former German - Polish ice hockey player who was active in the German Ice Hockey League for the Krefeld Penguins and the Revierlöwen Oberhausen, among others .

Career

Stebnicki began his career in 1975 in the youth department at Polonia Bytom . There he went through all the youth teams and later belonged to the professional squad in the highest Polish ice hockey league, the Ekstraliga . With the club he won the Polish championship in 1984, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990 and 1990 . Furthermore, he was part of the squad of the Polish national team , with which he took part in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary , where he reached tenth place. Overall, he wore the jersey of Poland 81 times and scored 24 goals. After his last championship title with Polonia in 1991, Stebnicki moved to the German Bundesliga for Krefeld EV. There the attacker was able to develop into one of the top performers in the team over the years. In his fourth season at KEV, he scored 42 scorer points in 41 league games .

At the end of the 1999/2000 season , he decided to sign a one-year contract with league competitor Revierlöwen Oberhausen . With the Revierlöwen he reached sixth place in the main round and moved into the play-offs for the first time in the history of the Revierlöwen. In the play-off quarter-finals he was eliminated with Oberhausen against the eventual runner-up Munich Barons after three defeats. Stebnicki played a total of 62 games this season and was able to score 33 times. After his contract in Oberhausen was not renewed, he returned to his native Poland.

There GKS Katowice took him under contract. After a season he left the club again and joined Dwory SSA Unia Oświęcim in 2002 . At the end of the 2004/05 season, Stebnicki ended his active ice hockey career at the age of 39.
