Margarete Fries

Margarete Fries (born June 14, 1911 in the 9th district ( Alsergrund ), Vienna ; † January 18, 2012 in Vienna) was an Austrian actress .

Career

Fries received his doctorate in biology and at the same time attended the Max Reinhardt seminar . In 1933 she played for the first time at the Volkstheater in Vienna . In March 1938 she left Austria and was engaged first in Bern and later at the Schauspielhaus Zurich , where she played under Max Ophüls , among others . In 1947 she returned to Vienna and in 1948 to the Volkstheater. From 1954 to 1987 she was a permanent member of the Volkstheaterensemble. She was last on stage in 1987.

Her grave is on the Inzersdorfer Friedhof (group 1, row MW, number 26) in Vienna.
