Margarete Hanusch (* 1904 in Fiume, today Rijeka , † 1993 ) was an Austrian sculptor and art teacher .

Life

Margarete Hanusch was born as the daughter of the Austro-Hungarian military catering officer Adalbert Hanusch. She moved to Vienna as a toddler in 1906 . Hanusch studied first in the youth art class of Franz Cizek and later at the arts and crafts school of Anton Hanak . After a long stay in Salzburg , the sculptor came back to Vienna in 1946 and moved into an apartment in Haus 13 Hafengasse in the third district of Vienna . The artist had her studio in Erbsenbachgasse 3 in Döbling .

After the Second World War , many urban residential complexes built at the time were decorated with works of art ( art in architecture ), including sculptures by Hanusch. The sculpture "Family" is one of the rare examples that were criticized by contemporaries for its aesthetic backwardness.

She was buried at the Sieveringen cemetery .
