Margarita Andrejewna Wassiljewa ( Russian Маргарита Андреевна Васильева ; English Margarita Vasileva ; born June 5, 1991 in Novopawlowka ) is a Russian biathlete .

Vasilyeva came to biathlon at the age of 16. In 2010 she took part in the Youth World Championships for the first time , but did not achieve a result under the top 30 in any race. At the Junior World Championships in 2012 , she won the bronze medal in the sprint when her teammate Jelena Ankudinowa won. Until 2018 she started sporadically in races in the IBU Cup , in which she achieved fifth place as the best result. In summer 2018 she became world champion in summer biathlon with Jekaterina Jurlowa-Percht , Nikita Porschnew and Jurij Schopin with the mixed relay . At the beginning of the following winter, she qualified for the Russian World Cup line-up and took her first World Cup points in sprint and pursuit as 13th and 15th at the season opener on the Pokljuka . In January 2019 it was used for the first time in the Russian World Cup relay in Oberhof . The quartet, which in addition to Wassiljewa included two other World Cup debutants - Yevgenia Pawlowa and Larissa Kuklina , as well as Jekaterina Jurlowa-Percht - won the relay race with more than half a minute ahead of the German team.

In September 2019, the International Biathlon Union (IBU) suspended Vasilyeva for 18 months and retroactively recognized the results from February 2019 (including several top 20 results in the World Cup). She had missed three doping tests within twelve months and thus violated the anti-doping guidelines of the IBU.
