Margarita De Arellano

Margarita De Arellano (* 1972 ) is an American opera singer with a soprano voice .

Margarita De Arellano completed a Masters degree from the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. She made her European debut at the Prague State Opera as Gilda in Rigoletto .

International opera guest performances and engagements have taken her to the Volksoper Wien , Komische Oper Berlin , Teatro Maggio Musicale in Florence and Seattle Opera as Musetta in Puccini's La Bohème , and to the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich as Ann Trulove in Stravinski's The Rake's Progress and to the New Israeli Opera . There she also appeared as Poppea in Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea , as Adele in Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss and as Hanna Glawari in The Merry Widow by Franz Lehár.

She also sang The Merry Widow in the Stadttheater Bern and at the Mörbisch Lake Festival in Austria. She has also made guest appearances at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the Mencora Summer Festival Opera in Spain.

At the inauguration of the new Megaron State Theater in Thessaloniki, Margarita De Arellano appeared in 2001 as Violetta in Verdi's La traviata . She also played this role at Den Norske Opera in Oslo, in the State Theater in Skopje, in the Coliseu do Porto in Portugal and in the State Theater in Stuttgart. In Munich she sang the title role in the opera Lulu , Musetta ( La Bohème ), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Najade ( Ariadne auf Naxos ), Ann Trulove (The Rake's Progress), Waldvogel ( Siegfried ), Woglinde ( Der Ring des Nibelungen ) , Atalanta ( Serse ) and Donna Anna ( Don Giovanni ), Poppea ( L'incoronazione di Poppea ).

In Barcelona she appeared at the Gran Teatre del Liceu as Vitellia in Mozart's La clemenza di Tito . In 2009 she made guest appearances at the Opéra Bastille as Roxana in King Roger by Karol Szymanowski .

Margarita De Arellano gave concerts with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonika, the Berlin Philharmonic and the Vienna Philharmonic with Zubin Mehta, and under his direction also at the Bach Academy Stuttgart.

Margarita De Arellano is the winner of several competitions, including the Metropolitan Opera Regional Competition.
