Margot Leander

Margot Leander (born February 19, 1895 in Oberlößnitz ; † after 1929; real name: Margarete Gottschalk ) was a German concert and opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Born in Saxony just outside Dresden, Gottschalk, who took the stage name Margot Leander, made her debut at the Mainz City Theater in 1915 . From 1919 to 1925 she was the first soprano at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, and in 1925 and 1926 she was a member of the ensemble of the Opera House in Cologne . She gave guest appearances at leading German-speaking opera houses, for example at the Frankfurt Opera House and in Vienna in 1922 .

Leander played in the revue operetta Casanova in 1928 .

In addition, she was an important concert soprano in the 1920s and 1930s, who could also be heard frequently on Munich radio. There are probably no commercial recordings of her available. It is not known whether there are recordings of their radio broadcasts.
