Margaret of Angoulême (born June 5, 1523 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye , † September 15, 1574 in Turin ) was a daughter of King Francis I of France and Claude de France .

Live and act

On July 9, 1559, she married Duke Emanuel Philibert of Savoy († August 30, 1580 in Turin) in Paris , thereby gaining the title of Duchess of Berry and Peer of France . The marriage served to reaffirm the reconciliation of her brother Henry II with Emanuel Philibert and was part of the Peace of Cateau-Cambrésis .

Margarete and Emanuel Philibert were buried in the Cathedral of San Giovanni in Turin.
