Maria Anna von und zu Dalberg (born March 11, 1891 at Datschitz Castle ; † February 22, 1979 in Haus Loburg near Coesfeld ), with full name: Maria Anna Princess zu Salm-Salm, b. Reichsfreiin von und zu Dalberg , was a German winemaker. She was the last living member of the von Dalberg family .

Life

Maria Anna von und zu Dalberg was one of three daughters of Karl Heribert von Dalberg and his wife, Countess Gabriele von Spiegel zum Desenberg-Hanxleden. As the cousin of Johannes Evangelist von Dalberg , she became the heir to this last male name holder in 1940.

On November 10, 1912, she married Prince Franz Emanuel Konstantin zu Salm and Salm-Salm (1876–1965) in Prague . With that, the family of the Imperial Barons of Dalberg went up in the Salm family, whose sons were henceforth called Salm-Dalberg. The couple had seven children.

Due to Presidential Decree No. 12/1945 Sb. Of June 21, 1945, the couple had to leave Czechoslovakia and lived at Castle Wallhausen , which includes extensive vineyards, the former Prince zu Salm-Dalberg'sche Weingut , today: Weingut Prince Salm . Maria Anna was a lady of the Star Cross .

In the 1920s, Maria Anna and her husband were among the founders of the natural wine auctioneers' association on the Nahe , today's Association of German Prädikats- und Qualitätswüter (VDP). Her son Franz Karl Prinz zu Salm-Salm (1917–2011) continued the winery. Today it is owned by his son Michael zu Salm-Salm and is the oldest in Germany, which has been continuously owned by the family since 1200.
