Michael Prinz zu Salm-Salm (born January 16, 1953 in Heimerzheim ) is a Rhineland-Palatinate entrepreneur in the financial sector as well as in agriculture and forestry. He is Vice President of the European Landowners' Organization (ELO), President of Friends of the Countryside and Honorary President of the Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter e. V. (VDP) . He is committed to Christian ecumenism in various organizations .

family

Salm-Salm is the oldest child of eight siblings of Franz-Karl Prinz zu Salm-Salm and Maria geb. Baroness von Boeselager . In 1977 he married Philippa, née Countess zu Castell-Castell . With her he has six children and 22 grandchildren. The family seat is Wallhausen Castle (near Bad Kreuznach) . His grandparents were Prince Franz Emanuel Konstantin zu Salm-Salm (1876–1965) and Reichsfreiin Maria Anna von und zu Dalberg , who was the last living member of the noble family von Dalberg auf Wallhausen. The Dalberg castle ruins also came into the family's hands through the grandmother .

Life

Salm-Salm holds a degree in business administration in Mainz , Freiburg and Munich, which he described as Diplom Kaufmann graduated. He gained professional experience in finance at the Fürstlich Castell'schen Bank , in viticulture ( Fürstlich Castell'sches Domainamt ) and in agriculture and forestry at home and abroad. Until 2007 he ran the Prinz Salm winery (formerly Prinz zu Salm-Dalberg'sches Weingut ), the oldest family-owned German winery.

In 1990 he founded Salm-Salm & Partner GmbH based in Wallhausen, a financial portfolio management company with a focus on convertible bonds and investments in agriculture and forestry. He particularly committed to sustainability and laid in October 2012 with the Salm-Salm & Partner GmbH a convertible bond fund to which receives the title only to be rated according to criteria which, together with the sustainability rating agency oekom research AG defined and which is based on the sustainability criteria of the Principles for Responsible Investment . He is the initiator of the "Convertible Symposium", a specialist event that deals with aspects and investment strategies for convertible bonds. Political activities

He has been a CDU member since 1973 and was chairman of the district association in Bad Kreuznach from 1997 to 2001 . He ran several times for the German Bundestag , but from 2001 - after two failed federal elections in the Bundestag constituency of Kreuznach - protégé Julia Klöckner .
