Maria Batzer (born August 17, 1877 in Diez , † August 28, 1965 in Offenburg ) was a German writer .

Life

Maria Batzer was the daughter of a military doctor . She spent her youth with her family in various garrison towns . After her father's death in 1890, Maria Batzer kept in close contact with a friend of her mother's; Since this friend had been a lady-in-waiting at the court of the Hohenzollern in the royal seat of Sigmaringen , Maria Batzer received formative impressions of court life in such a residence. While her official residence was Offenburg , Maria Batzer mainly lived in Haigerloch with the family of an uncle who was also in the service of the Princely House of Hohenzollern . In her stories , which have been published since 1906 and are mostly written for young readers , she often processed her own experiences in Haigerloch and the surrounding area. From 1926 Maria Batzer was officially resident in Haigerloch; It was not until 1962 that she moved to Offenburg , where she spent the last years of her life in an old people's home .
