Maria Beling
Maria Elisabeth Beling (born June 24, 1915 in Mannheim ; † 1994 ) was a German operatic soubrette , intermediate singer (soprano) and actress .
Life
stage
The daughter of the chamber singer Margarete Beling-Schäfer (1870-1950) and the opera singer and Shakespeare researcher Ernst Oskar Beling (1862-1932) studied singing with her mother and with Else Tuschkau-Huth (1882-1966) and Else Zeidler. After she had already played various children's roles on Oldenburg stages from 1919, she made her stage debut as a trained artist in 1931 in the role of Tinerl in Die Kaiserin at the Stadttheater Kiel. This was followed by engagements as the first soubrette in Gotha-Oeynhausen (1931–32), in Darmstadt-Gießen (1932–34), at the Central Theater in Dresden (1935–36), at the Hamburger Volksoper (1936–39), at the Metropoltheater and at the Admiralspalast Berlin (1939–45; here she played the Valencienne in the Merry Widow under Franz Lehár ) and at the Munich State Operetta (from 1951). In addition, she went on a stage tour with the Army Welfare Service of the British Occupation Zone in 1946/47 .
Movie
In 1933 Maria Beling made her feature film debut alongside Hans Söhnker in the love film Schwarzwaldmädel . Although she already played the leading female role in this and another production of the same year ( Voices of Love ) and even the title role a year later in Grüß die Lore , her film appearances remained rare. In her short film career she played next to Theo Lingen and Adele Sandrock in Gern ich hab ich die Frauen , next to Lil Dagover in A woman who knows what she wants , next to Rudolf Platte in Schützenkönig is Felix and again in a leading role next to Helge Rosvaenge in Don't fall in love with Lake Constance . In her last feature film Love Stories , which she directed by Viktor Tourjansky in 1943 after an almost eight-year hiatus, she only had a minor supporting role alongside Willy Fritsch .

Maria Beling also worked extensively for radio and sang roles for various opera and operetta recordings for the RIAS and the NWDR , a. a. the Marie in Paul Lincke's wife Luna (1945), which Hannchen in Eduard Künneke cousin from Dingsda (1945), the title role in Hervé's housekeeper Nitouche (1947) and the Juliska in mask in Blue (1944).
In addition, she worked as a voice actress for numerous film productions, where she v. a. also took on the vocal parts in German-language films for other actresses.
Private
Maria Beling was married to operetta bon vivant Alfred Fierment. In 1941 she was awarded the Lehár Medal for her artistic achievement.
