Maria Francisca of Portugal , full name Maria Francisca de Assis da Maternidade Xavier de Paula de Alcántara Antónia Joaquina Gonzaga Carlota Mónica Senhorinha Soter e Caia de Bragança (born April 22, 1800 in Queluz ; † September 4, 1834 in Gosport ) was an infanta of Portugal and by marriage Infanta of Spain and Countess of Molina.

Life

Maria Francisca was the third daughter of King John VI. of Portugal (1767–1826) and his wife Infanta Charlotte Johanna (1775–1830), eldest daughter of King Charles IV of Spain and Princess Maria Luise of Bourbon-Parma .

On September 22, 1816, Infanta Maria Francisca married her uncle Carlos María Isidro Benito de Borbón y Borbón-Parma (1788–1855), Infanta of Spain and Count of Molina, second son of the Spanish King Charles IV and his wife Princess Maria in Madrid Luise of Bourbon-Parma . The marriage produced three sons:

⚭ 1847 Archduchess Maria Beatrix of Austria-Este (1824–1906)
  • Ferdinand de Borbón (1824–1861), unmarried

Infanta Maria Francisca died in Gasport, England, and was buried in the Catholic Church. After her untimely death, her husband married her older sister Infanta Maria Theresa de Bragança (1793–1874) in 1838 . Their marriage remained childless.
