Maria Frieden (Harderberg)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

St. Maria Frieden is a Catholic parish church in Harderberg , a district of Georgsmarienhütte in the Osnabrück region . It replaced a makeshift church that had been in use since 1948 and was consecrated in 1963 by Bishop Helmut Hermann Wittler from Osnabrück . The church is dedicated to Mary as Queen of Peace. In 1964 Harderberg, which until then belonged to the Church of St. Joseph Osnabrück, became its own parish. In 1971 it was raised to an independent parish.

Interior

The windows were designed by the Ohrbeck artist Rudolf Krüger. They represent the 16 invocations of the Litany of Mary , starting from the right with the Trinity , opposite then ending with the Lamb of God .

The Way of the Cross in the church was made by Walter Mellmann , an artist from Osnabrück.

After a thorough renovation in 2002, the church received a glass altarpiece by the artist Albert Bocklage from Vechta. It represents the elements from the history of creation : heaven, earth, light and water. The round image disk stands for the globe, with the risen Christ in the center.

Today the parish of St. Maria Frieden Harderberg, which belongs to the Diocese of Osnabrück , forms with St. Peter and Paul (Georgsmarienhütte- Oesede ), Heilig Geist (Oesede) and St. Johann / St. Marien (Kloster Oesede) a parish community .
