Maria Gangloff , née Neßler , (born February 16, 1951 in Eythra ) is a German politician ( PDS , today Die Linke ). From 1990 to 2001 she was a member of the state parliament of Saxony .

Life

Gangloff finished the Polytechnic High School in Zwenkau in 1967 and completed an apprenticeship as an electrician in 1969 . She worked in this profession until 1974 and then took on full-time elective positions in the city council of Böhlen until 1990 . During this activity, she attended the Technical School for Political Sciences from 1975 to 1980 and then studied from 1981 to 1986 at the Academy for Political and Legal Sciences Potsdam-Babelsberg, which she graduated with a degree in political science . She has been running a sports agency since September 1990.

Gangloff joined the SED in 1973 and was initially a member of the city parliament of Böhlen. She was first deputy mayor from 1976 to 1986 and later from 1986 to 1990 also mayor of the city. In the state elections in 1990 , it entered the Saxon state parliament for the first time via the PDS state list , which it was always able to enter via the state list in the following two legislative periods. Among other things, she was a member of the Petitions Committee and treasurer of the PDS parliamentary group. In the third electoral term, she was chair of the Petitions Committee. Gangloff was also a member of the board of the Rosa Luxemburg Verein eV

After she ran for the mayor's office in Böhlen in vain in 1994, she was elected mayor on June 24, 2001 in the runoff election with 54.6% of the votes, in which office she was elected on June 8, 2008 with 98.1% of the unopposed candidates valid votes was confirmed. After taking office as mayor, she left the state parliament on August 31, 2001; Kerstin Köditz succeeded her .

In 2004 Maria Gangloff was a member of the Federal Assembly for the PDS . She is parliamentary group leader of the party Die Linke in the district council of the district of Leipzig .

She belonged to the board of trustees of the Saxon State Center for Political Education .
