Maria Kegel-Maillard (born September 24, 1917 in Berlin ; † June 16, 1999 in Meersburg ) was a German painter .

life and work

Maria Maillard was the older daughter of the painter Willi Maillard and Cläre Maillard , nee. Zechlin. Her younger sister is the children's book illustrator and musician Katharina Maillard .

Maillard studied painting at the Berlin Art Academy and in 1943 moved with her parents, first to Konstanz and later to Meersburg on Lake Constance.

After the war she worked for three years as an art teacher at the Schloss Salem private school . Then she settled in Meersburg as a freelance painter.

Maria Kegel-Maillard was married to the painter Hermann Kegel (1913-2004). The painter Christiane Kegel (born 1946), who lives in Meersburg, is their daughter.
