Willi Maillard
Willi Maillard (born February 26, 1879 in Berlin ; † July 15, 1945 in Konstanz ) was a German painter and university professor.
life and work
Willi Maillard first studied painting at the Berlin Art Academy , where he took on a teaching position in 1899 and was appointed professor of painting a few years later. He mainly painted portraits, landscapes and still lifes. He showed his works at the great Berlin art exhibitions in 1906 and 1910 as well as the exhibition of the Free Secession in Berlin in 1914.
He had been with the historian Cläre Maillard , b. Zechlin, a granddaughter of the local historian Theodor Zechlin and sister of the historian Egmont Zechlin , married.
Willi and Cläre Maillard had two daughters, the painter Maria Kegel-Maillard and the musician and well-known children's book illustrator Katharina Maillard .
During the Second World War , the family moved to Konstanz in 1943, where Willi Maillard died in 1945.
