Maria Moritz

Maria Moritz (born January 28, 1892 in Hohenburg ; † October 8, 1957 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a Hessian politician ( KPD ) and a member of the Hessian state parliament .

Maria Moritz attended elementary school from 1898 to 1905 and the advanced training school in Munich and Verau from 1905 to 1908 and did an apprenticeship as a saleswoman and household apprentice. She had been married since 1913 and widowed since 1918. After the death of her husband, she studied literature, philosophy, economics and the labor movement at the adult education center in Freiburg im Breisgau from 1920 to 1922 and from 1925 at the adult education center in Habertshof near Frankfurt am Main.

From 1918 Maria Moritz was active in the Spartakusbund and in the KPD. In Freiburg she was a city councilor for her party from 1924 to 1927. After the seizure of power of the Nazis could not continue their political work legally and was imprisoned from 1935 to 1941 for political reasons. From December 1, 1946 to November 30, 1950, she was a member of the Hessian state parliament.
