Maria Murban

Maria Murban (born May 22, 1899 in Vienna ; † August 21, 1984 there ) was a Viennese district politician ( SPÖ ).

Life

Maria Murban owned a grocery store in Vienna between the wars. As a socialist she went into the resistance during the period of the corporate state after 1934 and joined the Revolutionary Socialists . In 1937 she was imprisoned, again in 1943 by the National Socialists .

After the Second World War, Maria Murban was district councilor in Favoriten from 1946 to 1950 . She was also a founding member and head of Volkshilfe there .

In 1992 Murbangasse in Vienna-Favoriten was named after her.
