Maria Odermatt

Maria Odermatt (actually Josef Maria Odermatt , born March 4, 1867 in Buochs , † August 10, 1950 in Alpnach ) was a Swiss politician ( KVP, Swiss Conservative People's Party ).

Life

Odermatt was the son of the farmer Alois Odermatt. He attended the Sarnen high school for a few years and was a farmer with a dairy in Alpnach. From 1894 to 1934 he was a member of the Alpnach municipal council, which he presided over in 1904. From 1895 to 1914 he was a public clerk, from 1900 to 1924 a debt enforcement officer , from 1927 to 1942 justice of the peace , from 1900 to 1942 school council and from 1912 to 1942 local tax administrator .

Political offices

Odermatt was Obwalden Cantonal Council from 1901 to 1925 , which he presided over in 1909/1910. From 1903 to 1909 he was a canton judge , then chief judge until 1914 . From 1914 to 1942 he was Obwalden government councilor (State Economics and Building Director) and in 1924 Landammann .

From September 29, 1924 to December 5, 1943 he was a member of the National Council.

Odermatt was not considered to be adapted: In 1932, as mayor of Alpnach, he had a conflict with the police headquarters. Incidents such as insulting military personnel (1940), non-compliance with the cultivation obligation (war economic criminal case) and an insult to Federal Councilor Walther Stampfli in the Lucerne railway station buffet (1942/43) are also on record .
