Maria Stommel

Maria Stommel , b. Furtmann (born March 17, 1914 in Wiesdorf , † March 19, 1990 in Leverkusen ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending the upper lyceum and the higher commercial school, Stommel was employed as a school secretary from 1932 to 1935. After her marriage and the birth of her two sons, she devoted herself primarily to the work of a housewife.

Political party

Stommel was already politically active during the Weimar Republic . Since 1930 she had been a member of a youth organization of the Center Party , which she joined in 1946. In 1948 she switched to the CDU. She was state chairwoman of the CDU Women's Association of Rhineland , board member of the CDU Federal Women's Association and board member of the European Women's Union. In addition, from 1975 to 1983 she was deputy chairwoman of the Catholic Workers' Movement (KAB).

MPs

Stommel was from 1951 to 1979 council member of the city of Leverkusen and there deputy chairwoman of the CDU parliamentary group. She belonged to the German Bundestag from December 4, 1964, when she replaced the late MP Hermann Ehren , until 1976. It was always drawn into parliament via the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia .
