Maria Vos
Maria Vos (born December 21, 1824 in Amsterdam , † January 11, 1906 in Oosterbeek ) was a Dutch painter .
Life
Maria Vos was born in Amsterdam as the daughter of the real estate agent Gerrit Vos and his wife Gerarda Bouwmeester (1793–1833). She trained as a housekeeper at a French boarding school in Weesp . From 1841 she studied with Petrus Kiers , who is known as a painter of interiors by candlelight and landscapes by moonlight. He taught her drawing , painting and watercolor . In 1853 Maria Vos moved to Oosterbeek and began painting landscapes and still lifes. In 1870 she built a house, the so-called Villa Garda, and lived in it with Adriana Johanna Haanen .
