Maria de Jesus dos Reis Ferreira is an Angolan diplomat .

Life

Maria de Jesus dos Reis Ferreira studied international law at the Catholic University of Portugal in Porto . She fought on the side of the Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola for Angola's independence from Portugal, which was achieved in 1975. She is a Brigadier in the Angolan Armed Forces and served in the country's Ministry of Defense before moving to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1980. For this she worked both in Germany and abroad, from 2004 as Consul General in Porto.

It was in 2011 ambassador in Austria and remained in that post until 2018. At the same time she was from 2011 to 2018 in one person as Ambassador to Croatia , Slovenia and Slovakia , as well as Permanent Representative at the United Nations in Vienna accredited .

Maria Ferreira has been Permanent Representative to the United Nations since 2018 .
