Maria im Walde (Neubiberg)

Maria im Walde is a chapel of the Roman Catholic Church in Neubiberg , an Upper Bavarian parish in the Munich district . It is consecrated to Mary, the mother of Jesus , and serves as a war memorial chapel . The building is registered as a monument in the Bavarian List of Monuments .

The chapel is located directly southeast of the parish church Maria Rosenkranzkönigin . Construction began in 1914 and, after interruptions, was completed in 1921.

The chapel is a single nave, about 12 × 5 meters in size with a straight choir closure and a gable roof . A square roof turret sits on the roof ridge directly on the gable end . The portal has a stone frame with a round arched tympanum. It depicts a soldier's helmet in front of a resurrection flag. A banner bears the inscription “ I am the resurrection and the life ” ( Jn 11.25  EU ).
