Mariage Frères
Mariage Frères is a French manufacturer of tea blends based in Paris .
The chain was founded by Henri and Édouard Mariage on June 1, 1854. In the beginning it was a tea importer. In 1983 Marthe Mariage, Henri's granddaughter, employed two tea experts, Kitti Cha Sangmanee and Richard Bueno. Together they opened Maisons de Thé or tea houses and tea shops in Paris. Today, four Maisons de Thé and a Tea Emporium can be found in Paris. Mariage Frères teas are also available in other cities along with Lafayette, Printemps and Bon Marché: Lille , Lyon , Marseille and Toulon. From 1990 stores also opened in Japan, Tokyo , Kobe , Yokohama , Osaka , Kyōto and Nagoya . Mariage Frères has been represented in the USA since 1999. Together with Galeries Lafayette Berlin , Germany will follow in 2007 with Berlin and in 2009 in Hamburg.
This enables the sale of 650 types of tea from 36 countries. In addition to tea blends, other goods such as scented candles , chocolate goods , teapots and sweets are sold .
Today Mariage Frères is available in over 60 countries and numerous metropolises: New York, Los Angeles, Saint-Petersburg, Sydney, Singapore, in the Ritz hotels in Paris, Claridge's in London, La Mamounia in Marrakech and l'Oriental in Bangkok. Mariage Frères tea drinks are also available in Japan Airlines First Class.
