Marianne Gossweiler (born May 15, 1943 in Schaffhausen , after marriage to Marianne Gossweiler-Fankhauser ) is a former Swiss dressage rider who won two medals at two Olympic starts.

The daughter of a horse dealer received riding lessons at an early age and rose to the top of the world at the age of 21. At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, she and her Lipizzaner Stephan formed the Swiss team together with the veterans Henri Chammartin and Gustav Fischer . In the individual classification, Chammartin won, Fischer took fourth place and Gossweiler was seventh, in the team classification Harry Boldt , Josef Neckermann and Reiner Klimke won for the all-German team ahead of the Swiss and the Soviet team.

In 1965, the first official European championships took place in Copenhagen. With the same line-up as in Tokyo, the German team, now starting for the Federal Republic of Germany, won ahead of the Swiss. There was also a duel between Swiss and Germans at the first World Championships in Bern in 1966. After Neckermann, Boldt and Klimke had won all three medals in the individual ranking, they also won the team ranking ahead of Chammartin, Fischer and Gossweiler. In 1967 at the European Championships in Aachen, the German riders won ahead of the Soviet team, Henri Chammartin, Marianne Gossweiler and Hansrüdi Thomi received the bronze medal.

In the following year at the Olympic Games in Mexico City in 1968 Gustav Fischer was there again, Chammartin, Fischer and Gossweiler again won bronze behind the teams from the Federal Republic of Germany and the Soviet Union. While Marianne Gossweiler was the only medalist in dressage in 1964, in 1968, Liselott Linsenhoff and Jelena Petuschkowa were all female riders who won medals .

At the Olympic Games in Mexico City, Marianne Gossweiler met the rower Urs Fankhauser , whom she married in 1971 after the end of her riding career.
