Marianne Gruber
Marianne Gruber (* 4. June 1944 in Vienna as Marianne Wurzinger ) is an Austrian writer.
Life
She spent her childhood in Burgenland . Her reference person was her Croatian grandfather. She attended the humanistic Mariahilfer Gymnasium . She then studied medicine for several semesters and psychology for two semesters with Viktor Frankl . Marianne Gruber completed piano studies at the Vienna Conservatory with Karger.
She has written prose, poetry, essays, radio contributions and contributions to numerous anthologies, for which she has received several literary prizes. Numerous lecture tours took her through Europe and overseas.
Since 1980 she has worked as a freelance writer and as a moderator for Club 2 on ORF . From 1991 to 1994 she was the head of the literary circle Podium and from 1992 to 1995 she was editor of the magazine Podium . From 1994 to 2016 she was President of the Austrian Society for Literature. In addition, Gruber was a member of the Graz Authors' Assembly from 1980 to 1988 and has been a member of the Austrian PEN Club since 1986 . Gruber has been President of the Austrian Writers' Association since 2017 .
Marianne Gruber is widowed, has two children and lives in Vienna.
