Marianne Maurer

Marianne Maurer (born March 12, 1903 in Cannstatt ; † August 2, 1995 in Stuttgart ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life

After attending the girls' high school, Maurer began studying medicine , which she broke off after her pre-examination for health reasons. In 1929 she married Hermann Maurer, Stuttgart city councilor and managing director of the Evangelical Relief Organization , with whom she had four children. In the following years she dedicated herself as a housewife and mother to her family, with whom she lived in Stuttgart.

Maurer was already active in the Protestant youth movement during her school days. Since 1945 she was a member of the Evangelical Women's Association and chairwoman of the Cannstatt local association. Furthermore, she was a member of the general parish council in Bad Cannstatt, a member of the committee for women's work of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg and a member of the regional board of the German Family Association .

Maurer joined the CDU in 1949. In the state elections in 1956 , she was elected to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg through a second mandate from the Stuttgart III constituency, to which she belonged until 1960. Her parliamentary focus was on social, educational, cultural and women's policy.
