Marie-Theres German

Marie-Theres Deutsch (* 1955 in Trier ) is a German architect based in Frankfurt am Main .

Life

Marie-Theres Deutsch studied architecture in Trier and Wiesbaden between 1976 and 1979. She has lived in Frankfurt since 1980. Further studies in architecture took her via Vienna, Berlin and New York to the Städelschule School of Design in Frankfurt. There she studied conceptual architecture with Günter Bock and Sir Peter Cook on an interdisciplinary basis with Thomas Bayrle and Peter Kubelka . She also worked in the offices of Günter Bock and Luise King.

After completing her studies, she opened her own office in Frankfurt am Main in 1985. Her first commissions enabled her to work for the international art scene: in 1987 the Portikus - the exhibition hall for Kasper König  - behind the memorial of the destroyed city library in Frankfurt, in 1988 a private museum for the sculptor Ulrich Rückriem in Frankfurt's Osthafen, plans for Rebekka Horn in Odenwald; a sculpture at the Frankfurt Opera for William Forsythe . In addition, houses, kindergartens and schools were built. She also participated in planning in Ethiopia, u. a. with the African Union. Together with Udo Corts , she developed the revitalization of the inner-city bank of the Main, which has led to today's gastronomic revitalization of the promenades.

In addition to her practical work, she taught as a visiting professor at the Detmold University of Applied Sciences and the Universities of Detmold, Kassel and Siegen.
